TRAINING

Advocacy Training:  Advocacy training teaches you to be a better advocate for yourself, your community, youth and even policies you wish to see. Learn where to start, how to preserve a record, when and where to escalate, and how to achieve the results you desire. These trainings are offered one-on-one, in group settings, and are available for youth ages 10+.

Know Your Rights: Know Your Rights Training empowers you to interact with police officers, law enforcement agencies, those in authority, and the judicial system. This training is vital for people who want knowledge on how to engage in multiple scenarios from traffic stops to protests. These trainings are offered one-on-one, in group settings, and are available for youth ages 10+.

Will & Estate Training: Will and Estate training is for churches, organizations, and businesses who want to share the gift of knowledge. While many people plan for life, far too many fail to plan for death. Death is natural, and this training helps people talk about death, learn how best to plan and learn what constitutes a comprehensive estate packages.

TRUSTS, WILLS, ESTATE PLANNING & PROBATE

Last Will and Testament: A Last Will and Testament is a vital legal document that constitutes the initial building block to a great estate plan. Creating a Last Will and Testament helps ensure all you leave behind will be cared for and distributed according to your wishes.

Durable Power of Attorney: A Durable Power of Attorney allows you to grant an agent authority to act on your behalf and access documents, accounts, and the information needed to make decisions and take action on your behalf. A Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare and a Durable Power of Attorney for Finances is included in a Will & Estate Package.

Living Trust: A basic living trust agreement may be customized for use in any jurisdiction to help avoid probate. A Settlor/Grantor uses a trust to hold and administer their assets and property during their lifetime and upon their death. Trusts are suitable for individuals, couples with or without children, those holding property and/or substantial assets, and people who want their assets distributed in a complex way or over a specified period.

Probate: A court proceeding that authenticates the decedent's Will and approves the named Executor so they may distribute property and belongings. Probate is also necessary when a person dies intestate (without a will). In cases of intestacy, state law determines who inherits the decedent's assets.

ADVOCACY

General Advocacy: Utilize multiple advocacy techniques where clients have faced discrimination, difficulties or unjust treatment at the hands of employers, professionals, peers or institutions. General advocacy involves working to bring proper resolution and restitution to clients.

IEP Support:  Provide meeting support and multiple levels of advocacy to ensure the student's needs are fully met and adequate resources are being provided by the school district.

Pro Se Support: Provide guidance, support, document interpretation and assist with trial preparation for clients representing themselves in various legal matters.

Contract Review: Analyze and provide guidance on various documents, including but not limited to contracts, employment offers, leases and business agreements to ensure client interests are represented and protected.

FAMILY LAW

Custody and Parenting Agreements: Work with parents to ensure a legally binding agreement is created in the best interest of the child(ren). Agreements may include, but are not limited to visitation schedules, medical care, decision making authority, methods of discipline, child support payments, schooling and college savings plans.

Separation and Divorce Agreements: Work with individuals or couples to create legally binding separation agreements. These agreements are often used to avoid litigation and multiple proceedings in an absolute divorce. Agreements may include, but are not limited to distribution of marital property, alimony, custody arrangements, name changes and debt settlements.

MEDIATION

Mediation: During mediation, a trained neutral mediator will help people in a dispute communicate, understand each other, and hopefully, reach an agreement that satisfies each party's needs. Mediators do not make decisions for you, provide legal advice, or dictate the terms of your agreement. Mediators help you fulfill your needs by facilitating creative, customized solutions. Unlike courtroom proceedings, which are open to the public, mediation is a confidential process. Business, family, neighborhood, and one-on-one disputes may be effectively resolved in mediation. Mediation is generally less expensive than litigation and provides an opportunity for the parties, rather than a judge, to determine the best outcome.
